By accessing or using PDF Annotator ("the Service") you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of Service

PDF Annotator is a free, browser-based tool that allows you to annotate PDF documents and image files locally in your browser. No files are uploaded to any server. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

Permitted Use

You may use PDF Annotator for any lawful personal or professional purpose, including:

• Annotating documents for personal review, study, or research
• Marking up documents for professional feedback or collaboration
• Presenting annotated documents in meetings or lectures

Prohibited Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Process documents that violate applicable laws or third-party rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or compromise the application
• Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service in ways that impair performance for other users

Intellectual Property

The PDF Annotator application code, design, and documentation are the property of their respective owners. The open-source libraries used (React, Next.js, PDF.js, pdf-lib, Framer Motion, Lucide) are licensed under their respective open-source licenses.

You retain full ownership of any documents you annotate using the Service. We make no claim over your files or annotations.

No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that exported files will meet your specific requirements.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Advertising

The Service may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. These ads are provided by third parties and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
